Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Fighters Party

Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of characters who will separate from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team consists of Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.

That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.

Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear mismatched, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the group understands precisely where to head next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—used the foes for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.

The traitor then cleared his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each member has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, seeks retribution.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the region and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The warrior and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • But, their status as important members in the influential clan could help the party enter areas they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The cleric turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the family.

This means them little choice but to head to the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Seekers and Strategists parties.

Audiences can look forward to learning which players will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
