Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his initial title for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid season, winning just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-time trainer Cervara.
Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.
It is Medvedev's maiden title after the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt from spring of that year.
Success also means he has won 21 titles at 21 different competitions.
"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children together, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional the champion.
"This championship is in honour of my child my daughter, because the first title I won when my child her name was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, comprising in Halle in the past months.
The player's counter-punching approach and frequent outbursts on court had caused observers to doubt if his ability to play at the highest level was finished.
But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced serving game.
He fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.
The competitors exchanged break points in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his first professional title, seized the initiative to force a decider.
He rescued 4 initial break points in a close third set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.
Appropriately, the winner secured the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
