The second-hand marketplace Users Express Displeasure Over Sizing Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has altered its size classifications for women's and children's garments but did not contact all users about the change.
Online Platforms Backlash
Countless users and merchants are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a different size category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Updates
Previously, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she stated.
Required Changes
Another shopper, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options after backlash from users.
